Learning how strategies work, will help you produce a certain behaviour in individuals. The definition of a strategy is a specific syntax of internal and external human experience consistently produces a specific outcome. Our personal experience as human beings is an endless series of representations both internal and external. In order to take this endless sequence it is useful to suspend the process, and contextualize it in terms of outcomes.

The Components of a strategies and how to use them are as follows. First you need to discover the strategy. The first step is to discover the person’s strategy through the process of elicitation. Then you need to utilization the strategy. You can utilize the strategy by feeding it back in the order and sequence that it was elicited. Than they may be a need to change and the design or make changes in the strategy, and design a strategy so it produces the desired outcome. Then installation the strategy. By installing the new strategy the person can have if a behaviour the way they want it.

Why learn to elicit strategies? Well strategies are a powerful part of NLP and everything we do is involved in strategies. In fact everything we do is a strategy, how we have sex, to eating, even love, attraction; decision, wealth etc are all strategies.

If we find a good strategy we can adopt it, if we find a behaviour we don’t want anymore we can get rid of it by simply taking out the strategy. Do you have any behaviour you want to get rid off? Than learning how to use strategies are the key!

Communication with strategies will be more effective if you utilise the other person’s strategies. Lets say that someone has a decision strategy that is, Vr, Ad, K. This would mean that they had a strategy that was Visual recall, Auditory digital (self talk) and than Kinaesthetic. So you would use that strategy by feeding back you question like this “I am wondering how soon, you will have a chance to look at out proposal, to see that it means you criteria for acceptance so that you can feel good about it tonight, won’t you?”

Anytime you are negotiating or selling, motivation, relationship counselling etc you can use strategies they are very important. So pay attention to what the client is doing, pay attention to his eyes, his physiology ,his breathing and that will give you a lot of information.

Prior to NLP therapy was not result oriented process Rogerian psychology would be generally be a outcome less therapy. It was the process of saying ‘I hear you are saying you are upset’ this of course would not lead to a result.

Now is NLP we want to know the out come. So the first point is to know your outcome this can be as in a business plan with what you what to accomplish. The next point is to take action this would mean you need to do something about your plan, not just make a plan. Given this you now need to have Sensory acuity. This is the process of looking seeing and taking note of the world around you so that you can be aware to what you are achieving towards your outcome. Then by having the very best behavioural flexibility you are able to adapt to the environment around you to keep on the task of getting the outcome that you want.

After all that you just have to make sure you operate from a physiology and psychology of excellence this means you think about what you want.

The principles of how do you create the right internal repinsentational in your head are also very important. You need to understand the state v goals process. Sometimes people write goals that includes state “so when I accomplish X I will be happy”. The problem with this is the issue of happiness from an NLP point of view is that it is a state and since it’s a state we can have it immediately. To feel happy all you have to do is remember a time when you were happy. Here’s the thing about writing a goal for a state you probably feel pretty good right? So you put something in the future like in 6 months from now I’ll be happy. The problem from an NLP point view is you could be happy right now, so value or a state is stated ambiguously.

Where as a goal or outcome is usually stated specifically with a goal it defiantly needs to be stated specifically. You can have a value or a state now and with a goal or outcome time is involved. Confidence and competence are different things Time is involved in the process getting a goal or outcome Value or state there are no steps Goal or outcome – steps needed to get there, one way is getting the final step and working backwards. A value or state is infinite or not really measurable Goal or outcome is measurable. Value or state can be stated for self and or/ others therefore goals or outcomes are generally stated for self only.

Fully consider the questions I’m about to ask you. What is the goal you want to achieve from the end state? What is it you are looking for terms in of own personal accomplishment? What will that goal look like? What will it sound like? What will it feel like? Specifically very specifically.

So the way this all works together is , if you are specific about your goals and your goals meet all the criteria that we just outlined, that they’re specific, specifically enough that you can get a outcome. Let me talk a little bit about specifically stated specifically enough so that you know when you’ve got them.
Sometimes people write a goal of I want to be happy, or wouldn’t this be a great idea if this happened ,or wouldn’t this be a great idea if we “broke even” but specifically that’s not the solution just breaking even doesn’t give you enough to pay back previous debt and why not make a little money. So having a clear outcome is very important.

NLP is actually quite a respectable body of knowledge. It has a background and a number of intellectual disciplines. NLP according to our model here seems to have drawn on general symatics, on linguistics, on hypnosis, on gestalt therapy it takes into account ecology and family therapy and metaphors and so really becomes a study of what works.

It really is a study of how do you produce results. What kind of results do you want to produce? How would you produce results in any one of 3 areas, in business, in education and in therapy. Business, education and in therapy and I think all of those are very very important. Now let’s define NLP before we go any further.

Now our definition of NLP, and this is the traditional definition; it essentially takes the 3 words and let’s look at each of the 3 words. Neuro relates to the nervous system which is the mind and through which our, an experience is processed by way of the 5 senses which are visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, old factory and gustatory. Linguistic relates to language and other non verbal communication systems through which our neural network representations are coded and ordered and given meaning. This includes pictures, sounds and feelings, taste and smells and the words we use which are the self talk. Now programming relates to the ability to discover and utilise the programmes that we run inside ourselves.

The things we do inside our heads and also that others do so that we can achieve our own specific and desired outcomes. In other words NLP is how do you use the language of the mind to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes. NLP is really the study of excellence, how do we discover excellence wherever it is and then utilise that in such a way that we can create change in ourselves and others.

The skills that you can get from a NLP course will allow you to better communicate and understand your and other people’s world to allow better results. Language can be a very powerful and effective tool in sales, management and even teaching your kids how to spell well. The techniques that NLP offers will give you an advantage in all areas of your life and you may even end up finding out and un-taping your hidden potential.

Not understanding your body and mind and finding out other ways to use this amazing tool the body might just be the biggest mistake that you did not know you made.
